The Sketchbook Project
A beginner's guide to social reintroduction
An illustrated guide to a new normal in a digital world after a global pandemic.
The Brooklyn Art Library is an independent Brooklyn-based company that organizes global, collaborative art projects. The Sketchbook Project is a crowd-sourced library that features 45,000 artists' books contributed by creative people from 135+ countries and is on view to the public at the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY.
As part of the project, this is a sketchbook generated by Kiwani Dolean and Ben Stanton, created during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 while we were in lockdown in the UK. We wanted to express complex feelings of a complex period, and we approached the sketchbook as a way of narrating a social commentary of how life has changed after COVID-19.
In our 'Beginner's Guide to Social Reintroduction' we illustrated 15 words with ink pens and watercolour taking inspiration from our first hand experiences. We loved combining our art and thoughts, grateful that we were lucky enough to spend the lockdown together.
