Inktober 2019
Inktober is a global art movement created by Jake Parker in 2009. Every October, artists all over the world take on the Inktober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month. The rules are simple: every participant makes a drawing in ink based on the daily prompt and posts it on their social channels with the Inktober hashtags (#inktober and #inktober2019).
In 2019 I participated in the Inktober challenge digitally using Procreate on iPad Pro and Apple Pencil with some awesome ink brushes – it's been fun! This year I decided to follow a specific theme, so I illustrated 31 films based on the prompts. Totally loved it!
My process was very streamlined – I decided to use black as a main colour, with some accent colours depending on the film illustrated and the mood of the composition. The planning phase was perhaps the most intense, as I chose beforehand the movies that I wanted to illustrate for each prompt. By using the same format for all of them, utilising the same background, and choosing similar textures and brushes, I kept all the illustrations consistent and developed a unique cohesive style for the project.
